Giving Vent
Exhibition, Rääkkylä County Council Building, Finland, September 2002

I had nine years plumbing experience, installing domestic plumbing and heating systems, before commencing full-time art education and subsequent career. The work I have made using scrap copper & fittings makes more sense to me than the conventional plumbing systems I installed.

The phrase "Giving Vent" is an expression and physical act of release. Through my art I give vent to my thoughts, memories and history; in response to the disgarded objects and materials which I am attracted to.

The following is a selection of works from the exhibition.
